Hello everyone. I'm new to the message board and am very curious about the IC Diet. I was diagnosed with IC a few years ago and remember seeing the diet posted before, but not now. Is everyone getting it from the IC Handbook? Is the handbook very useful?

I need help very badly. I was in "remission" for about a year and now have the pain so bad that I am in tears. HELP!!!

OH LARA!!! BIG HUGS and A :kissing:

There is tons of diet info on ICN @
http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/

The best way to figure out your diet triggers is to do the elimination diet (described in the ICN handbook) and keep a diet journal and slowly add new foods and document your pain level. Remember that a food may not cause pain for 24 hours or more so if you flare look at the previous few days also.
"The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide" is a great all around reference. But personally, I found "A Taste of the Good Life" to be the most comprehensive diet resource. It is a whole heck of a lot more than just a cookbook. It helps you really grasp why diet is so important in IC treatment.

Are you under the regular care of a URO? You definitely need to be. There are many other treatment options besides diet. And your doctor should be able to make you more comfortable. Also, you could have other problems going on, like kidney stones. Anything new to your condition should always be checked out.

Hope that helps some. ;) Feel free to PM me or e-mail me if you have specific questions. I have recently been re-doing the Elimination diet myself and found a few things that I had missed the first time around!!! I am sorta obsessed with diet right now, so I'd be glad to give you pointers!!!

Good Luck!!!

Thank you so much for the responses. I am doing so much better. I have to say that the Prelief does work!!!!! The day after I started taking it I noticed some relief. I've also cut out some "bad foods" from my diet and now feel 99% better!

I hope all is well with everyone.

Thanks again!

Lara :)

P.S. I did order the book. :)
