I have been having breast tenderness the past 2-3 months since starting Elmiron & Everything. The tenderness is like when you get when 1st pregnant, where it hurts so bad you don't want to wear a bra or shirt for that matter. I know I am not pregnant b/c DH had a vas. after our 2nd son was born due to a high risk pregnancy with Rh Disease (7 1/2 yrs ago). I usually do not get breast tenderness with PMS but the past 2-3 months have been awful for it. Has anyone noticed any changes with this? Or am I just a weirdo lol :toosh:

You know what I had a hysterectomy over 1 year ago and I never would get tenderness even during my period, only when pregnant I would big time, BUT we know I AM CERTAINLY not pregnant and I too have been saying I have breast tenderness . I too am on elmiron, maybe its a side effect..

What you are experiencing is probably hormonal --- breast soreness usually is...... You didn't mention how old you are, but if you're mid 30's or older, it could be the beginnings of (don't hit me!) menopause.
I do suggest you discuss this with your doctor --- I went through the same thing at about age 35.

Marlene,
I am not aware of breast tenderness being a symptom of IC meds. I agree that it is more likely a hormonal thing. I do think you should check it out with your GYN since this is something new for you. I have known women in their early 30s to go through a pre-menopause thing or even early menopause. I few tests and they can tell you if your hormone levels are off and explain what it means and how to treat it.
We ICers are so used to dealing with so many negative symptoms, we just throw every new symptom on the list. I know I do it all the time. But any symptom new to you should really be discussed with your doctor. All the symptoms of IC can also be caused by other things. Let your URO or PCP decide if it is IC or not.
:tsk: As my PCP always tells me,
"Don't get so wrapped up in IC that you neglect the other parts of your body. Your body communicates it's needs by specific symptoms. Make sure to really listen to what it is telling you. Don't assume everything from now on is just part of having IC. You will certainly have other non-IC problems from time to time, just like everybody else"
:hmm:
It is a good reminder to us all!!
Hugs,

Thanks everyone for the posts. I will talk to my doctor about it. I will be 34 in Aug. Don't worry Donna I won't hit you :D
AudreyRose, that is some great advice your doctor gave you. I will have to always remember that.
