I just started taking this (in addition to Elmiron) a few days ago with my doctor's blessing. How long do you have to take this before you feel the benefits? Anyone feel worse BEFORE you felt better on this? Are some people able to add more foods after taking it? Any side effects? Thank you for your responses.

Took about two weeks for me. The average is 3-6 months, I believe. The only side effect is on my IBS. I freeze the entire bottle and right in the middle of the meal, I take it. Freezing it causes it to release slower into the body. I have gotten great results from both Cystoprotek and DH Aloe.

Wishing you well!

God Bless.

Good idea about freezing.
Skyn - do you always have a bottle in freezer or?
I also wonder if it can get worse before starting to get better with CP.

Is CP supposed to help with urgency/freq or with pain? My main symptoms are stinging with urination and vaginal pressure. Do you guys think it would help with my symptoms? I am currently on Elmiron and have been for about 7 weeks now. I think I started noticing a difference in the first 2 weeks, but I also started taking Glucosamine with MSM so I'm not sure what is really making the difference. Thanks everyone. Wishing everyone a pain-free day!!

The maker of cystoprotek says not to freeze the whole bottle, but just the pills you are about to take, for 1/2 hour.

I take it and I noticed a slight benefit in a week or two. But they say to give it four months. I also added aloe and those two in combo have given me a lot of progress in the past couple of months.

Vaginal pressure sounds like it could be PFD. Have you seen a PT that specializes in the pelvic floor? I had vaginal tightness and pain but PT knocked that out after a few months.

My Uro never mentioned PFD. I am due to see my PCP on Friday for another issue and he knows about my IC. Do you think he could give me a referral for a PFD specialist? I mentioned my vaginal pressure/discomfort to my Uro and he says this is because my nerves are irritated from the IC. So, does this mean it's not PFD? I'm so confused. I find that taking Ativan reallly helps with the vaginal discomfort. I know Ativan has some type of a muscle relaxer it in so maybe that is why it helps? Who knows. I just know it works for me. I am really curious to try the Aloe and the CP, but scared at the same time. I'm a big chicken. LOL.
