ICN SURVEY CENTER- How Does A Child Describe Their IC or Bladder Symptoms?
We all know how difficult it can be to describe our IC symptoms as adults. Imagine how a child must struggle to let their parents know that they are in pain. Children with IC often can't say what's bothering them. For example, one ICN staffer recently shared that she used to tell her mother that her "pants hurt." She was so uncomfortable wearing even loose pants to school that she usually wore dresses.
So, this got us to thinking. Could there be more children out there trying desperately to tell their parents that they are in pain?? How can they tell us that their bladder hurts? How does that change as they grow up??? How does a 8 year old talk about it versus a 4 year old versus a 16 year old.
We would like to assemble a list of common terms or expressions that we can use it to help parents and medical care providers understand just how children might communicate about their pain or symptoms. Help us today! Click here to participate in this, and other surveys.
