I was totally scared, something wrong would happen to me...but soooo glad nothing bad happened. I wanted to let all you know that everything went good for my first of six treatments today. I just wanted to give a few people pointers..what i learned today. Eat something before the treatment. Bring a pad with you because you leak after. It want very good. I Took off half of my clothes, then she wiped down there to decrease the chances to get an infection. She told me to tighten up and take a deep breath, and focus on your breathing...it will sting when the cath goes in...the doctor slowing puts in the dmso. I kept it in there for about 35 minutes. I hope this helps..if anyone has some ideas to help make it go smooth..please post..I would love to know and the newbie as well..
Love you guys

I am glad to hear that everything went well. I actually had an appointment with my uro today and he wants to start DSMO in the next week or so. It is comforting to know that it does not always have to be a bad experience. I know it is different for everyone but hopefully it will give both of us the relief we need and deserve!!!!:)

Kiyoka!
I am so happy for you that your DMSO treatments are helping you!
I am so impressed that you could hold the DMSO treatment for about 35 minutes. That's awesome! My record was only about 40 minutes! Usually I can only hold it for about 20 - 25 minutes.

The breathing hint is very good. I always concentrate on relaxing by taking slow deep breaths. My uro's nurse does the instillation and it isn't bad at all. I wear a panty liner when I go for my instillation just to be sure I don't leak on my clothing.
I'm glad it went well for you. I go in tomorrow for my monthly maintenance DMSO treatment. Not my favorite pastime, but not bad either.
Warm hugs,
Donna

I read your post about your first DMSO treatment. I am really glad it went well for you. I do have a question though? Didn't it hurt terribly when you held it in that long? I did 3 treatments and had to stop because they became almost unbearable. The first time I held it 30 mins. And, then the second and third I could not hold it longer than 15 mins. Then, I would be sick all the next day. Barely could get out of bed. Did you have any side effects ? Thanks, Dana

I'm so glad it went well for you!
I think it's good for people to read our posts. Mine are also going well. This way, people won't be so scared! I have my fourth one on Monday.
My suggestion, is take a pain pill about an hour before!
