I am sorry if this was already asked somewhere, I am new to this, I did look around but didnīt see anything.
My question is how long can you take it?
It says you can take it 3x per day for 2 days and then stop. I am wondering is there is someone who took it longer without any problems. I do not know when I will be able to see my uro and then having more tests done like cystoscopy. I donīt have anything special for pain and frequency right now.Vesicare doesnīt work any more and other strong painkillers like tramadol are so bad for me, I get dizzy and sick and all.
Ok enough renting, what I would like to know is if its ok to take perhaps two pills per day longer?
Does it help with frequency and urgency? I know it says on the package but I donīt see much difference just that my spasms are a bit less and a bit less pain.
Thanks for all the help.

If your Urologist did not tell you to take Azo, you should follow the directions on the box until you can talk with your doctor. If your Urologist did suggest Azo and specified you follow the directions on the box, then that is what you should do. If your Urologist suggested Azo and said that you could take it for longer than what is on the box, then it would be okay to do so.

Simply stated: Call your doctor and ask if you have not already talked with him about taking Azo.

Are you following the IC Diet? If not, I suggest you begin. Many here have found that their symptoms decrease significantly because of the Diet. You can find a link to it in my signature below.

Thanks Sharon for the answer. No I did not talk to my doc, the problem is I was not able to get in touch with her yet but I had to do something about my pain and frequency. I did help a bit with pain but not with frequency and urgency.

In general I am not so sensitive with food but nevertheless I do follow IC diet but so far it didnīt do much for me.

My urologist rx'd me Pyridium (same stuff as AZO) to take as needed. When I was using over-the-counter Pyridium (AZO) I was instructed by my rx'ing pharmacist that its safe to take as needed.
This is my personal experience; like mentioned, call your Dr and inquire if its safe for your situation.

Over the counter AZO is the exact same drug as Pyridium only in a smaller dose. Personally speaking, I try to limit my intake and only use in cases where I have a UTI. I have found other drugs that can touch the pain better than Pyridium anyway, so its a "break glass in case of emergency" type thing for me to use. Pyridium can can cause a lot of harm to your kidneys and liver (the kidneys have a hard time excreting this drug). Its why they want you to use this drug sparingly.

Definitely talk to your doctor. I will tell you that Librax has been a godsend for me lately. None of the bladder antispasmodics did a thing for me, but Librax stops all the spasming and pain in both your bladder and your bowel. Its been like a little miracle. It also calms the nerves a bit and smoothes out muscle contractions (it actually helps with the burning sensation too). My first urologist prescribed this for me many years ago and now my current one has me back on it (usually only Gastro's prescribe this, but it really works).

Thanks for the reply. I stopped taking it cuz I know its not good every day.
Problem with me is that most meds you talk about here are not being used here in Sweden. So even if I go to doc with suggestion like Librax, I wonīt get it since they donīt use it here.
