Comedian Soupy Sales Dies At 83 is this mornings head lines on clickondertoit.com

DETROIT -- Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, died Thursday. He was 83.

Sales died at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx, New York, said his former manager and longtime friend, Dave Usher. Sales had many health problems and entered the hospice last week, Usher said.

At the peak of his fame in the 1950s and '60s, Sales was one of the best-known faces in the nation, Usher said.

He will be greatly missed by many.

He always looked so old to me that I thought he was much older than 83 --- I still see him on game show network occasionally.

I loved him. I wish the days of good variety shows would come back!! I am tired of all the dreary, sad, or disgusting "reality" shows. I just want to laugh, I think we all need a good laugh.

So sad, all those of that era are passing away. The "real" comedians. Now if you watch a comic on regular tv, you can't hear the act for all the bleeps!

When I posted I wondered how many of us would remember him.

I didn't hear anything from his passing till I was watching "This Week with George S...)
I thought he was much older than his 83 years. He will be missed.
