Hi everyone. I just had to post and say how much better I've been feeling. (Gosh, I hope I don't jinx things by admitting it out loud) I'm taking the Elmiron 100mg three times a day and limiting soda from my diet (it's really hard to let go of it), I've been shopping recently and am excercising again and haven't missed work like in the past. My biggest complaint is being so fatigued and weak but it's getting better. I'm still anxious to meet with the new urologist in May and see how he feels things are. I feel guilty but still need to take the pain pills in order to keep up my normal daily routine without entire work shifts. I'm not taking the potent Oxycontin anymore just Darvocet or Lortab 7's when I really need them. I'm glad I'm more like me again and hope that the next "flare" is months away so I can enjoy the summer with my family.

HI Ibtracy! So glad to hear you are feeling more like yourself!:woohoo:
I just got over a major flare up too and feel so much better! It is amazing how much a flare up restricts your quality of life. My flare up started late March, but I couldnt get into the doctor until next week. During all my pain, I did LOTS of research and that is how I found this wonderful website and message board. You have all helped me so much! My urologist didnt mention anything about not eating certain foods. When I stopped drinking caffeine, diet sodas, citris foods, tomatoes and all the foods that are not IC friendly, I found much relief. Especially after I found out about Prelief. Taking them before each meal has really helped too! I am in such a better mood now, am eating better, exercising and I'm sure much easier to live with! LOL I am still going to go see my Uro and ask LOTS of questions on what other treatments and medications that are out there to help me through my IC journey. I only wish all IC patients could get some relief...and soon! You are all in my thoughts and prayers! Hugs to you all, Rita :grouphug:

I'm glad you are feeling better and the elmiron is working! It's good to be able to not take as potent or as many pain meds as you once did. Since starting elavil, I have been able to cut down on my pain meds too. Hope you continue to be on the upswing!
