Elmiron and Vision Problems

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with IC three months ago. Thankfully, I have been able to get the pain under control through diet alone which is a great blessing. Unfortunatly, I am still having issues with urgency (especially at night) and it is driving me crazy.
Anyhow, I am very sensitive to medications and I have had bad experiences in the past with side effects. I am not on any meds now but my urologist has suggested that I try Elmiron.
I am VERY concerned about the possible side effects of this drug and I was wondering if any of you have experienced vision problems on this drug. I have read multiple accounts online of Elmiron causing blurred vision, vision changes, and in some cases even causing mucus to build up over the surface of the eye.
While I am interested in getting help with my urgency, I feel my vision is too precious to risk.
Have any of you experienced visual side effects while on Elmiron?

I have not had any problems with Elmiron. I take 300 mg a day,and have been on it since end of April this year.

I have no problems with the drug. I have been on it ever since 2005. I have not read the info that comes with the medication. When I get my refill I just throw it in the trash and not give it a second thought.:confused:

Keep doing your research. Check the manufacturer's website for most common side effects. When I began taking Elmiron I read as much as I could about it. I don't remember vision issues being high on the list of side-effects, and I am guessing that is very uncommon. The most common side-effects are gastro-intestinal, hair loss and the possibility of mild blood-thinning and/or bruising. It seems to be almost universal that any side-effects are reversible if you stop taking the medication, but I suppose there is always a small risk when taking any drug that has to be weighed against the possible benefits.

I have had no side-effects from Elmiron and it has helped me greatly.

I did have vison problems and massive headaches when I took it.
