View Full Version : Ugh!

It's been a rough couple weeks. It's one of those times when nothing seems to be going right and I can't seem to catch a break. First of all I'm tired of peeing ALL THE TIME. Public restrooms are so nasty. They smell. I have ruined shoes in there stepping in something gross. People don't understand your urgency. I don't understand how people are so disgusting. I have slight retention so I can't really squat, because I cannot pee at all like that. Well if I forget to check because some people pee on the seat it's just so unsanitary and gross. I could go on and on and on.

I'm tired of my roommates. I mean I like them as friends but my IC has been so bad I am tired of being the maid. But they don't care. I'm just so run down the last thing I want to come home to is a mess I haven't made.

My doctors will *not* help me right now. My pain doctor will not give me pain medicine and my uros are not much use since my IC is so unresponsive. In the meantime nobody else is really helping me either. I'm in school and some of my professors don't understand why I have such a hard time keeping up. I'm like really? I am not allowed to have pain medication because it will ruin my life. Because being in excruciating pain all the time won't ruin it. Thanks doctors. I'm unable to keep up in my classes so I will have to finish the work next semester now, quit my internship and stopped driving. Yea, my life is perfect without medicine...

Just a rant.

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time right now. Rant away, sounds like you deserve a good rant. Doctors make no sense at times. Have you tried to explain to them that you are unable to function at all? I have seen others on the boards your age talking about the same problems with Dr's. Is it possible to see another Dr that could help you. My Dr was very helpful with me in treating my pain because I was desperately trying to continue working, in the end I still had to leave my job.

The only thing that I can recommend for you is to look into seeing another Dr, do you have support from your family? I know that being so young they are probably afraid to give you pain meds, but perhaps if your Mom or Dad or an "older" relative were to accompany you to a few appointments (in the room with you) the Dr's would be more inclined to help treat your pain. I firmly believe that the fact that my husband accompanies me to my appointments has helped in my treatment. He doesn't even really speak, just helps me to remember what was said and answers any questions that I need help with.

I wish you the best. I hope I was able to help you in some way. Life is so unfair sometimes, but then it can turn around and be great too. Don't lose hope.

Just a thought: Why don't you document every time you miss, arrive late, have to leave early, projects late, all the things that your IC pain is causing you to have problems with your school and take that with you to your Dr.(I know that is extra work you don't have time for, but it could help) Let them know that without an education you will not be able to have any type of career, and they are depriving you of the opportunity to get that education by not helping you deal with your disease in a fair manner. Ask them at what age it won't ruin your life? Then give them your documentation of your life as it is now, see what they have to say then. Seems to me it is age discrimination by witholding needed medication from you based solely upon your age. Sorry, now I am ranting.
