View Full Version : looks like I have the swine flu

...this morning the doctor confirmed it. He said the only good thing is that I won't have to get the swine flu shot. He put me on antibotics and told me the usual stuff to do.
I told him that I wasn't feeling well on Sunday, had a sore throat and that Monday I had a headache, achy feeling all over and a 103 fever. Of course, my fever was no show this morning in fact it was below normal; but it has spiked up since then. Told me that I couldn't get my regular flu shot till next week (I was scheduled to go in on Thursday.
My husband is sick too, doesn't have it (yet-hopefully won't as the doctor put him on antibotics and Tamaflu). My youngest son had the same symptoms but I think his was because he received a flu shot on Saturday; but to be on the safe side put him on Tamaflu as well).
Hopefully, we will get better by Friday as Saturday my husband and I are going to Houston for his 36 year HS reunion. We were suppose to go last year to his 35th but Hurricane Ike came to visit.
Hope everyone is doing good. Stay well.

How rotten! 103 is a pretty good fever, -I bet that doesn't feel good!

Get well soon!

the flu is no fun in addition to IC. I can't tolerate IC, much less anything else.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Mary. Take care of yourself and don't rush into any decision about going on your trip. It may be that you will not be well enough to travel. Consult with your doctor about it before deciding to go or not to go.

(((Hugs))) and lots of hope that you all get over this quickly. :)

Thanks- doing better today.
My husband suggested that I go and sit out on the front porch for awhile as it might do me some good. I did that for about 30 minutes and plus I have been up for about 4 hours-which is about 2 hours more than I been doing lately.
Besides my family doctor involved I have my cardio included in the mix- his "coumadin nurse" is concerned because of the valve-the doctor said if my fever goes on another day then I will have to go in and see him (the fever and all made my INR shot way up the normal rate). I have to go tomorrow to the lab closest to my house and have it check to see where I stand.
As for my trip this weekend, they said if I am "fever Free" for 24 hours than I should get to go. So we are hoping that it won't go up as right now and for the last handful of hours its been almost normal. If I can't go then my husband will go by himself.
