I'm new here and still learning my way around. :hi: Not sure if this is the right place to post this question.

Is it possible Ambien can contribute to IC flares or cause further problems with IC? My family dr. prescribed Ambien for me back in the summer to help me sleep and I take it on occasion. Yes, it works great to help me with my sleep issues, but I don't want to cause my IC to get worse. I had a really bad flare Sunday evening (after eating chocolate) and was in pain all day yesterday. I took an Ambien last night so I could get a good night's sleep and woke up with worst pain this morning. Just wondering if anyone else takes Ambien and if it has caused anyone else problems. Thanks so much! :help:

Hi, I agree it may be the chocolate, I have been on Ambien since I was diagnosed and it has made such a difference for me. I can sleep through the night until the early morning, which was not the case without Ambien. It may well be the chocolate, when I eat chocolate, which is not often, I have very little and prefer the white chocolate if I can get it. Hope that you are not having a lot of pain right now and wish you well for a good nights sleep. Iris.:flower:

I'm so glad to hear Ambien is ok to take. :woohoo: It works really great for me and helps me sleep through the night. I think the chocolate was what caused the flare.

I've taken Ambien for time now also and have not had any bladder issues with it. I had to stop taking it because I ended up driving my kids to school while I was semi sleep. I have no recollection of driving them to school but I do remember waking up in my bed with my shoes on! It scared me so bad that I discontinued taking it. Please be careful that you get the 7 to 8 hours to sleep while on it!

Best Wishes,
Aleet7

I've heard some people have problems with Ambien as far as getting up in the middle of the night and doing things (such as driving, etc.) and not remembering the next day. So far, I've had good results with it and never experienced any problems. I always try and make sure I'll be able to get at least eight hours of sleep before having to get up.

Yes, I'm posting this at 2:00 a.m. I didn't take anything last night to help me sleep but it's ok. At least I'm no longer in pain - the flare I was experiencing seems to have calmed down. :)

I was up at 2 a.m. this morning also even after taking Trazodone! I may have to go back to Ambien because 4 hours a night is not enough for me! I have huge bags under my eyes today and was totally not up to walking 5 miles this morning with my kid at his walk-a-thon.

I love my Ambien. Not only do I get a restful night's sleep, but it calms the bladder nerves and I don't wake up to use the bathroom during the night and my bladder doesn't hurt in the morning. Only thing I have done under the influence of ambien is have sex with my husband...haha. Apparently it makes me very amorous at times. I usually remember bits and pieces of it, but he has even tape recorded me to prove I was the one initiating it...haha. If that is the only problem I have...I'll take. :)

I've heard a lot of weird side effects from Ambien. I've taken Trazadone - as needed - for several years. I generally don't need it, but I sometimes take it on the weekends.

Since I have to be up between 630-7 during the week to get the kids off to school, it's too hard to take Trazadone and sleep b/c I never get to bed early enough.

Angelasheart,
I too have initiated sex with my husband on Ambien(and turned from a very conservative wife to a vixen)! That worries me some that he says that I do things that I don't remember. Dear husband read that it has saved some marriages of couples with low labido. I did notice that it calmed my bladder down too. I'm considering going back on it because Trazodone is not working as well for me.
