So after trying for months to get pregnant my IC worsened and we put it on hold for me to try to get my IC under better control. It has improved to some degree, but still no where close to where I would like to be. My husband and I finally decided to stop putting our lives on hold because of my IC and to preceed with trying to get pregnant. We have been trying for the past 6 months with help from my acupuncturist and going through testing at the OB/GYN. All the test have come back normal, but still no luck. I have also been using the ovulation test kits and never once has it said I'm ovulating (and i've tried 3 different test). I know that most people wait 12 months before starting fertility, but with my IC, the longer I'm off my IC meds the worse my IC gets. Thankfully my doctor has been willing since day one to start fertility meds to help the process speed along. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with IC and chlomid or other first level fertility medications. My mom took 5 years to get pregnant with her first and my sister took 6 years, I don't feel the odds are really in my favor. Not to mention the pain from intercourse thanks to my IC.
Thanks for any input!

I too am scared of this... we are currently going through IVF. I only have about 2.5 weeks before my egg retrieval. Just this evening, the pain was so bad I took elavil and pyridium... which I can't do once the egg retrieval begins.

I recently had IVF in the summer. Unfortunately, I found out my eggs are damage, most likely from years of endometriosis. Anyway, I was on Follicle stimulating hormone and while I was bloated and my bladder was burning I wouldn't say any worse then when I ovulate or have my period and as soon as I was off the meds my bladder was fine. Definitely manageable. In regards to egg retrieval....I have to say it was a breeze. I woke up feeling a little crampy, again couldn't compare to my periods, and after they injected the pain med I felt fine for the rest of the day. I did not need to take any more pain meds. I will admit that in the weeks to follow I did have some strange pulling sensation but I have a PFD and the bands are very tight. I also had increased sensitivity during internal work with the PT. If you do go to PT I would suggest no internal work for atleast 2-3 weeks. Good luck to the both of you!!!
P.S. To answer your question about waiting...I would say be proactive in your fertility treatment. I recently went to a doctor in NY, for a second oppinion, and he believes I have such poor quality eggs because I have an auto-immune disease. I know many doctors are trying to make a connection between IC and auto immunity. For most of us this theory makes sence since we generally have other disorders such as endometriosis, IBS, Fibromyalgia etc. Anyway my point is IC may in fact make it more difficult to get pregnant so the younger and faster you address this problem you chances of getting pregnant may increase!!!
