Hi there everyone! :hi: I'm so glad to have found this group. I thought I was alone in all of my symptoms and this illness.
My name is Jill. I'm a 33 year old Stay at Home Mom of 3. I have been dealing with bladder issues since I was 10. Most recently, I have had a recurring "UTI" for about 4 months.
After going to the ER several times, I finally made an appointment with a urologist on my primary care doctor's recommendation. After our first appointment, he said that he was almost positive that I have IC because of my other health issues. I have a history of IBS, and I have Fibromyalgia.
I had the wonderful cystoscopy, and it was confirmed. I have IC. He offered to give me the new wonder-drug; however, it cost WAY too much even with insurance. I opted instead to try the diet route. I may have to try it, but I'm VERY VERY nervous about it because of the side effects and the fact that it's so new.
I told him all of my symptoms which include frequency, urgency, pain in urinating, abdominal, and SEVERE back pain that comes and goes.
He, for whatever reason, won't prescribe any type of pain meds. He said to me that I would have to "just deal with it" or whenever I was in pain, I would have to go and be treated at the ER. Every time I do go to the ER, they ALWAYS think I'm a drug seeker. They try to give me Torodol or Tramadol, both of which do nothing for my pain.
I'm in Houston...
Any advice would be wonderfully appreciated.
Again, I am SO very glad to have found this forum. I know now that I'm not alone.
I hope you got through my novel of a post, and for those who did, thank you.
