Thickening of bladder wall

Does anyone know if there is a link between IC and the thickening of the bladder wall?

I don't know but I have been told some where along the line that my bladder wall is thicken too.

I recently had a cysto w/hydro (10/8/09) and at my follow-up appt. with my uro he showed me my bladder photos. I have these white "stripes" (for lack of a better description) running across my bladder that he said was thickening of the bladder wall. My bladder didn't show many other symptoms of IC other than a few small hemorroaghes and tiny red spots. And it was able to fill to normal capacity. He said I'm not the typical IC Patient

I also have thicking of the bladder wall, however, on the left side only. They say it might be a sign of an underlaying infection (chronic, a-bacterial, typically for IC) or scar-tissue (after urether-reinsertion as child), but this is how I was diagnosed.

Seems like somehow the thickening and IC go together...

my mom and I have IC and the way her doctor explained IC to her 35 years ago was like this.
consider you bladder a ballon, and as time goes by its like string is wrapping around it and stops the elasticty in it, when you have a hydro it all gets broke away.

Thank you for the replies. I have an appointment today for my pelvic ultrasound results.

When I posted this question I was thinking about my daughter. She had thickening of the bladder wall when she was 6 and it has remained unchanged in the last 6 years. She went through urinary incontenance for 4 months and then it resolved on it's own with no answers as to why.

She battles urinary frequency from time to time as well. She also has a neuromuscular disease as do I. I wonder if it is more to do with that.
