Hello Everyone,
I am new to this website but thankful I found it. Newly diagnosed in June...had a scope done then and have to go back this week for a second to make sure what my doctor sees in my bladder is not pre cancerous...a little nervous on that. I have had bladder issue since I was a child. Always had UTI's but coming from a large family I was never taken for an indepth exam. My parents solution was to drink water. I had a bad flare up when I was studying for my massage therapy boards...I was woken out of a sound sleep in pain and with a high fever. Was able to get in to see my female gyn and she acknowledged that I had a UTI but kept making assumptions that I was having alot of sex...hey if that's all it was I could handle that! It would flare up and then ease down...I just went thru a very stressful period changing jobs and living arrangements and have gone thru menopause early and my poor bladder is in overdrive....and I also have IBS so one is flaring up the other. It's awful because I have to work but am so fearful of having an accident from either issue.....Any advice or just encouragement is so appreciated...Is it normal with cystitis to have "lesions" in the bladder? I had never had a scope before so this was the first time someone looked into my bladder....

Thanks for listening!

Drew

Dear Drew -

I don't know if you are on HRT, but you may need some estrogen to help your bladder. A lot of women need help to keep their bladders, vagina, etc. healthy. Not only do some need oral estrogen, they also need vaginal preparations. Stay away from Provera or like medications, however, or your bladder will probably flare.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Drew,

I just wanted to say welocme, and that I'm sorry for your d'x.

As far as HRT goes, my DO has me on bio-identical hormones.

Also, there is a IC handbook that you can print out here somewhere on the boards as well as a IC diet. Which you may want to start. Alot of us here are very diet sensitive.

Also are you on any meds? When I first was d'x I did not realize that I could ask for pain meds. But if you need them, ask your uro or a referral to a pain dr.

I hope you get some relief soon! You will find lots of love and support here!

Thank you both for your advice. hormones makes sense since I went into meopause early and am now post menopause....I guess my gyn would be the best to discuss this with? Where on the website can I find the info on the diet? There is so much that I know I cant have because of the cystitis and also that I have IBS....but I really would like read this info.

Do you both still work? I have such a hard time sitting all day at work...when I am at home I can wear different clothing and lay down more....

Drew
If you go up the page and click on "patients" there is load of info including the diet.

No, I have an extreme case of IC and had to quit work and go on disability. Oh how I miss it!!!

Hope this helps!

Just wanted to add, yes with IC it is normal to have lesions and some also have what's termed hunners ulcers. My last hydro showed nothing but bloody lesions all over. A hydros are used as a d'x or can be used as a treatment modality. Which I usually 3-4 per yr. At first they helped but now, I'm not sure?
