I just posted for the first time on the forum the other day, although I have been coming here for several months and reading posts. Anyone else out there a diabetic and going through having to adjust your diet not only for your diabetes but the IC as well? I was reading a thread a few minutes ago with people's favorite snacks and needless to say there are so many of them that I cannot have because of my diabetes. Just interested in anyone elses ideas on this. Thanks!

I'm diabetic --- I don't completely give up any food because of the carb content; I just make sure I don't get too much --- and I check my blood sugar frequently to be sure I'm on the right track. I find that if I eat low carb foods first, then the treats afterwards, it's much easier. In these days, there are lots of 100 calorie snacks available and they are saving me! I just read contents to be sure they are IC safe.

I just had my first visit with a nutritionist/diabetic teacher and a nurse, niether had ever heard of IC. I am just starting the process of tracking my sugar and what I eat and I will start Metformin on Sunday. I am at a complete loss at this point. I was kind of stunned when I seemed to know more about what I could eat than the nutritionist did. I only have a background working for Jenny Craig and I know the IC safe foods, I was really expecting more help from them. And so once again I turn to my network friends for any advise I can get. Plaese and thank you :help:
