I'm not sure the difference really between these two. What I'm feeling is the constant need to go. Before I even get up, I feel like I need to still go. I manage to hold off for at least an hour, sometimes more. There's no pain, just the feeling I have to go. It's not like I'm doing something and all of a sudden I have a major urge to go and have to or else. I don't leak either. The feeling is always there and doesn't seem to get much worse as time goes by.
For all of you here who have this problem, what has helped you?
I have a urology appointment Tuesday, and want to come prepared!

I have a lot of frequency (and pain), but usually don't have much urgency. I go to the bathroom at least once every hour. However, (usually) I do not feel the need to go again for awhile. I do have burning pain after urination though. I think you seem to have both. I still have times of urgency, but found sometimes pyridium works for me.

I usually at night when it is time to go to bed have to pee alot! I recently discovered that if I put a very, very cold bottle of water in between my legs it numbs my vagina and bladder area, therefore taking the urge to constantly urinate away....just so I can sleep. Just a thought. :)

My urgency was greatly helped by CystoProtek; the IC diet; Desert Harvest Aloe Vera; Hydroxyzine; Elmiron; and Remeron.

urgency is that when you have to go and can not hold it or else you wont make it to the toilet in time??? Please explain?

Urgency is the feeling that you have to go right now!! Frequency is going constantly. Example, I alway feel like I have to go, but I know that usually nothing is going to happen, so I try and ignore the feeling for as long as I can and then I go.
Urgency doesn't necessarily mean you can't hold your urine which would be incontinent.
Does that make sense?

hi,frequency has been my most bothersome problem.i sometimes have burning upon urination and abdominal discomfort and low back pain and a feeling of bloating.i've been in a flare for over a year now except for a few months in the spring.i spent a miserable summer.i think i'm going back into remission(hoping!).i've felt better this past week than i have in months!what's helped me?i think it may have been the ic diet, prelief and tagamet.i have just started elmiron the past few days,so i know elmiron had nothing to do with remission yet.i hope the elmiron can start working in a few months and can keep me in remission.i wish everyone here was in remission!

I have the same thing. I feel like I need to go all the time. It is not really a pain, but a mild burning in my bladder that says...."hey, time to go"
Its almost maddening because it seems to be there all the time. I find that Oxybutin helps me sometimes, and othertimes a hot water bottle on my bladder takes the feeling away so that I can watch a movie without getting up

I have both , Frequency and Urgency.
Heaven forbid I cough or sneeze or laugh. I wet my pants immediatly.
I can go use the toilet and feel as though I am empty , wipe , stand up , pull up my pants , go to walk away , and I get a huge leak of more urine.
This is so frustrating.
The thing I hate the most , getting up 5 to 7 times during the night to go to the bathroom.
I am getting no sleep now , and have Insomnia > badly.:bonk:
The doctor said don't eat or Drink after 6 pm.:tsk:
I have been on the Elmiron 6 days and as soon as I take it , 45 minutes later I have a sore throat. :loco:
I wouldn't wish this illness on anyone !
Did my diarrhea accidents cause this ? :toilet:
My Urologist sais the Elmiron would cure this , is this Not the true case ?
So it will only be remission ?
