Are you still taking Urelle? I believe they are similar. I took Prosed for frequency/urgency and I believe it also helps with painful urination. It's not usually meant for long term use though. It did help me some but I had terrible intestinal trouble with it. I was taking 3 per day and then down to one and I still had the issues. Am now taking just Elmiron 4x day but looking for something else to add to my therapy. Good luck!

no I am not taking Urelle anymore, my copay was to high, but I guess that really didnt matter becuase the prosed is the same. :cussing: Also I have sick with sinius and ear infection general doctor gave me zpack, and that didnt help so went back and now it is sinus and upper resp infection and gave me bactrim, I am 5 days into bactrim and still not feeling good, could this also be causing issues with my bladder?

I took Bactrim for a little while and didn't like it. I can't say for sure it's what's causing your trouble but once I finished up my course i made a mental note to avoid it in the future. I can't remember if it has sulpha which i find irritating. If the Urelle was not successful I'm not sure that Prosed will be helpful either since they are so similar. I did get some help from it with urgency/frequency. I don't have pelvic pain so not sure if it would help with that but anything is worth a try. I'm currently having a lot of symptoms again so like you I'm fishing around trying to figure out what else I can do to help the situation. It can be frustrating but if your doctor is being proactive then you have reason to be hopeful.

The urelle did help me a bit, but the copay was expensive for me, so I am to try the prosed but it is the same cost. lol what a suprise. my general doctor who is treating me for the infection doesnt seem to care to much about my IC so I am not sure if the bactrim is causing any issue or not. sometimes I feel like I am complaining no matter what and that is not what I intent to do.

Urelle and Prosed are both urinary tract anitseptics and are virtually identical. If one works for you, stick with it. Both these drugs ARE tolerated long-term. The drug that is NOT considered a long-term solution is Pyridium (phenazopyridine), which can be bought otc as Azo or Uristat. That works very well for some ICers, especially for symptoms that resemble those of a UTI. It has an analgesic that works well for the burning pain. Read about these drugs in the forum "Treatments for Mild IC."
