I was diagnosed in April with IC, after many doctors and years of suffering. The diagnosis came from a nurse practioner who specializes in bladder disorders, actually at my gyn's office. (My gyn never figured it out and had been sending me to other specialists.) My question is, do you think I would get better treatment from a urologist? So far the nurse practitioner has had me on elmiron, which I had to stop due to side effects. I take enablex as well. She had been giving me weekly bladder instillations for awhile too. My IC symptoms are better but not significantly. I've read about other drugs and treatments and have asked about them but I've been told that all that is used at my doctor's office is the enablex and elmiron with the bladder instillations. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Do you think I might get more options with a urologist treating me? :help:
