I am being treated for vaginal bacteria and the doctor wants to put me on metro gel (which I am worried about flaring) or the pill form (which I am worried about aggrivating my IBS). Does anyone know anything about this? The pill I will have to take three times a day!

I was on metrogel last year and it caused the worst flare I've ever had. I've read that other patients have had this problem with the metrogel, and I'm convinced that's what caused my flare. It was so bad i couldn't sleep and I was in tears the whole night. I took proced which helped clam the flare and spasms (Urelle also helps with this)

The oral pill (Flagyl) didn't help me either, I had to end up taking the oral Clindesse which finally cleared my infection up (I had it for 7 months). i didn't have too many gastro problems with the Flagyl, it just tasted bad. And I don't remember having any with the Clindesse, but I also don't have IBS either. It may be different for you having the IBS. I have another infection now from a different kind of bacteria and I'm taking Doxycyclen (sp) now. It's causing the worst gastro upset I've ever had from anti-biotics. i actually threw up in the morning earlier this week b/c I took it with oatmeal w/ milk. It said on the label not to take with dairy, but I've always taken anti-biotics with dairy and never had a problem. I switched the time i take the medicine around, so I take it with a snack of dry cereal or toast. I haven't thrown up since, but it's still making me feel pretty lousey. Hope this clears me up and I don't have to take it anymore.

Good luck with your treatment. I hope your infection clears soon. These think stink:cussing:

You're going to love this. When I got to the urologist and aske her what she wanted me to do, she said do a Epsom salt sitz bath 1-2 times a day and slather on Crisco Shortening!!! It is working wonders, but I will never look at a snickerdoodle cookie the same again!!!!

God Bless.

I did not have IC until I started on Metro Gel for BV. It caused horrible pelvic pain - and then IC started a couple of weeks later. Never had a bladder issue before this. I will NEVER use Metro Gel EVER again.
