Potential IC.....please help!!

Over the last few years, I have accrued TONS of medical bills......I use to get a lot of UTI's when I was little and over the past few years, every time I just KNOW I have one (pain in my lower back, abdomen, urinary frequency, painful sexual intercourse, and burning upon urination) my urine always checks out clean! I had a cystoscopy done a year ago, and nothing was found. No doctor's seem to know what's wrong, and I just recently started doing my own research and found out about interstitial cystitis, but I'm not sure if that's what this is....it seems to fit me to a T though.......can anyone help??

It does sound like a possibility but it could be other things too since IC mimics other conditions. What kind of doctor or doctors have you been seeing? You really need to be checked out by a urologist or a uro/gynocologist if you haven't already. You can always ask the receptionist in advance if the doctor sees patients with IC to get an idea whether they know anything about it. Also on this site I believe there is a list of doctors who treat IC. There will be others that'll come along here on this board that might be able to give you more definitive answers(I'm a relative nooby here myself).

Hmm, on rereading your post I see you had a cystoscopy, so I can assume you were seeing a urologist? However, a clean cystoscopy doesn't rule out Interstial Cystitis.Does this urologist not know about IC? Perhaps you can go back and talk with him/her or just find another who might be a little better informed.I know many here have gone through several Uro's before they got a proper diagnosis. Aslo in the meantime, you can always try following the diet to see if that'll help your symptoms as that can't really hurt you.
