I feel kind of stupid asking this but.... I find it difficult most of the time to relieve myself. It takes awhile and even then I don't always feel better. More often than not I have a swelly belly at this time to.

Anyone else?

Thank you in-advance for your reply.

I had this problem on diazepam and Detrol. I understand it is very common with PFD too!

This is very common with IC patients.. Some times it is the meds that cause retention. Also it could be your pelvic floor muscles being to tight..

i have PFD and it makes me take a few seconds to start my flow and makes my flow sort of stoppy starty........not a solid ongoing flow that is what normal people have...............i am trying to work out how much of my IC issues are actually PFD pushing my poor bladder.

Your URO should be able to diagnose you with PFD and recommend a good PT...

Hi Crella,

When I've had swelly belly it's my experience that it's accompanied by pain, retention, and "pee freeze." It's especially difficult to start a urine stream if there is urethral pain. Things I tried that worked for me were dribbling a little warm water over the area to start the flow, bringing a hot water bottle to put on my tummy to help me relax, and leaning far forward. I'm not sure why that last thing worked, maybe it helps circumvent the swelling by stretching things out. Anyway, it's something to try. Good luck.
