Does anyone get flares from wearing clothing that is tighter around your waist or in the same area as your bladder?

I've been having a bad flare since a UTI following a laparascope, and I've taken to wearing skirts to work because my button on my work pants rubs me just below my belly button, putting pressure on my bladder. So yes, definitely :)

Yes. I still wear tight waistbands when necessary but I get them off as soon as possible. This IC business has caused drastic changes in my wardrobe!

Yes, the first year I had IC all I wore was shift dresses with sandals, long skirts with boots, and sweats. Now that I'm better, I can wear jeans if I buy them a bit loose and have the waistband just right, not too high, not too low.

I often wear maternity pants especially jeans. I try to find ones that have a thinner belly band instead of a large band. They are comfortable and cover-up my belly bloat. My nice shirts cover up the band and the legs are tight enough to show off my so far nice legs. I've even found very nice ones at consignment stores. Even streach pants can't come close to the comfort of these pants. I bought a pair at Kohls yesterday and the other ladies in the dressing room said I looked great. I'm 65 with gray hair. When I showed them they were maternity jeans they looked at me like what the heck is this all about. We had a good laugh. I told them I have a health issue with my bladder and needed the comfort. They all agreed no one could tell as they fit around my butt and down my legs like a very expensive chic pair. Sale price $22.00. Give them a shot. I hope you are more comfortable right away. Hugs, Ziggy

I do not know if the band has anything to do with it or not, but I do get a swelly belly. I have found wearing a low rise or modern waist band helps. I buy one size bigger and Levis and Lee both make a comfort waist band that has been a huge help if I swell during the day.

Please let me know if you find something that helps....I am not having much luck finding any tricks..

When I first began having symptoms (menstrual cramp-like pain, urgency frequency) my lower abdomen was so distended and unhappy that I cut the waistbands on all my pants and undies.
Now that I'm better - I threw them all out, remembering the whole, terrible experience.

My worst flares are from pants. I second the maternity pants idea. They make them now without panels (try Gap and Old Navy online) so essentially they are regular pants with a little extra give in the waist band.

I wear a lot of Empire waist or A-line dresses and elastic-waist skirts. I can wear jeans with a well-fitting waist if I'm not bloated.

I really like overalls, but then I'm an old hippie
