I finally got into to see a urologist 3 days ago. I haven't seen him since 3 years ago when I had bladder instillations for IC. I have been having constant symptoms of frequency, urgency, and frequent bladder spasms since June. My primary care physician prescribed me Elavil about a month ago. So far it is helping with a better nights sleep. However, my bladder issues are still present in the daytime. My urologist prescribed me Macrodantin to take twice a day. He did a pelvic and stated my urethra is rigid and swollen. The ultrasound showed that I had some urine left in my bladder after using the restroom before test. So he prescribed me Flomax once a day. Has anyone had experience with this drug? How long does it normally take to see if it works? The uro also prescribed Zyrtec 10mg per day. I still haven't noticed a difference with my symptoms after 3 days and I am not sure how long I should wait. My next appointment is not until 2 months and I don't want to be miserable for that much longer. I already waited 7 weeks for this last appointment. What meds can help with the frequency and urgency? Ditropan caused retention, but I seemed to tolerate Urispas but with only minimal difference but I only took 100mg and could take 200mg. Any advice will greatly be appreciated.
