Hi everyone,
This is my second week on the IC diet - almost...I'm trying...
Anyway, I've bought Prelief and I'm trying it with each meal to get my symptoms down and have also cut out a bunch of foods on the list my uro gave me.
However, I really like Vitamin Water - it comes in a lot of flavors and is preserved with ascorbic acid and citric acid. WAAAAHHHH!!
Has anyone been able to drink this with Prelief? What if I really water it down? Should I just give it up altogether and not even try?
Also, I'm having to drink a bunch of aloe vera juice (also preserved with various acids) because my husband and I got horrible sunburns this week (see my upcoming vacation posting) and I really need it to heal properly.
I don't drink coffee or black tea or soda so this is my one drink, besides herbal tea!
Thanks for your help,
Emily

I believe that I've learned that even with Prelief, Vitamin Water is NOT good for my bladder. I had some yesterday - about 2 cups of water each with maybe 1/4 cup of vitamin water in them with prelief and felt my bladder "knocking on the door" for the first time in a while.
Oh well...

I have never taken aloe vera internally, but when hubby and I went to Hawaii the first time we kboth got sunburns --- and we used aloe vera cream on the sunburns and it really healed them rapidly.
Sending encouraging hugs,

Hi Donna,
If you read my posting about the Kayak trip from hell, you'll find out that my husband and I both got 2nd degree sunburns - he was swollen as hell with a fever and I was vomiting. Fun in the Sun! NOT!
The way we were able to heal so quickly and not have them get worse was by slathering on layer after layer of aloe vera gel every 30 minutes or so for several days. THen we kept applying it but not quite as frequently. We also drank a LOT of liquid and aloe vera juice. (I had a lot of frequency, I think form the juice and vitamin water.)
I think Aloe Vera is the plant of the gods!

im going raw, i was doing better until i ate the wrong things again. oh well I'm not complaning. I'm going veg pretty soon. veggies don't give me any problems at all. the good thing is i dont have anymore flares. but the frequent urgency has come back since i ate alot of sweets all week - bad girl lol.
Emily, I hope you and your husband are doing better!

I can't drink anything or eat anything with citric acid. It makes me flare pretty bad! I used to drink that water but I can't do it now.

I drank an entire Vitamin Water today - without Prelief, and go figure, NO flare? I can't figure my bladder out.
Vitamin Water is a drink made by Glaceau - it comes in different flavors and vitamins, and colors (all natural flavors and colors.) Today I drank a Multivitamin one, which is orange. But I seem to be ok with it. I won't make a habit of it though.
I'm a vegan - I eat lots of vegetables, which are alkaline, and therefore soothing to the bladder. Tonight we had big bowls of salad and I made a version of Shepherd's pie using seitan (wheat gluten) instead of ground beef - with onions and carrots and of course, everyone's favorite mashed potatoes on top. It was really good.

alkaline vegetables is the best. i'm going on a alkaline diet real soon. i want to do whats right for my body. i have been studying which vegatables are alkaline. i figured out my triggers. it's sweets, cheese, milk and meats. they do alot of harm to my bladder which cause more urine frequency. I don't have anymore flares they vanished on it's own - thank god.
Sounds good! I do like my meat, though!

with severe sunburn such as the ones you described, I would see a doc...generally for real bad sunburns, they will put you on low dose steroids to heal your poor skin. Just a thought, hope you feel better soon ( and hubby too!!! ):tsk:
