I was dx 3 weeks ago. Lots of pain after cysto, hydro....but this is the first night I have gotten out of bed at least 10times to pee. I gave up and got up to watch tv so i don't wake my husband. Before tonight my biggest symptom was pain, not the frequency. HOW do you all deal with this????

The combo of these 2 meds seems to help me for now. I pray it continues.

Thanks for your quick reply. I already take Xanax. The problem last night wasn't that I was not tired...the problem was the constant need to pee! Everytime I laid back down, I had to get right back up. Last night it totally reduced me to tears. I am also on vicodin.

Sleep? what is that?? No, just kidding (more or less) I take between 20-30mg of Elavil at night (this was originally prescribe to help with migraines and then 100mg of Lamictal - most times with these 2 medications I sleep thru the night, but there are times that I still get up at least twice.

I had to pee over and over there for awhile, which sent me into a frenzy. Then I got that trapped feeling of "oh god, I have to live with the rest of my life"
I finally started to think super positive after I had been crying for awhile and told myself I needed to settle down, because the more I cried, the worse it would get. Eventually I must have fallen asleep.
Yeppers, I take Vicodin too. It does not make me tired. I used to take 2 (25 mg) of benadryl at night, but lately I have had to take 3.

lunaticwoman, Are you sure you don't have a UTI from the cysto/hydro? I got one after my procedure last year. Maybe drop off a specimen with your urologist? It always pays to check when your symptoms change.
What helped me with sleep is amitriptyline, 20 mg. at bedtime. It also helped with my urg. & freq. Feel better soon!
I also take 20mg of amitryptiline at bedtime, it was a miracle for me.

I'm having the same problem you are right now. My freqency has ridiculous for the past week while I'm fighting the BLADDER INFECTION FROM HELL. I haven't been able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time during this stretch.
I hope we both find something that works. I haven't. I have been trying Benadryl (over the counter) but it's not helping; hence the late night posting I am doing here. I guess I'm gonna have to get something Rx strength ro do the trick. Good luck and best wishes. Btw I love your screen name. That's what my bladder is turning me into.

I was just going to suggest you be checked to be certain you don't have an infection.

Thanks, all of you. The frequency did slow down yesterday. I can't help but wonder if I ate something that would have made me pee 25+ times 2 nights ago?
Vicoden also keeps me awake, but, that's ok. It does help SOME with the pain, but not all. I tell my friends it feels like someone put a molly bolt up inside of me, and it opened up. Remember what a molly bolt looks like?
I go back to the uro in 2 weeks.
I miss my diet coke. It's been 3 weeks since I've had one. I hurt so much it makes me just want to pop open a can right now and say the hell with it!
And....thanks for the compliment on my screen name. It came to me right away without thinking when I joined this forum.

I don't sleep when I'm in pain. My sleep cycle is dictated by my bladder during a flare. like right now I need to sleep cos I'm up for a cystoscopy at 6.30am but I can't until the pain wears off which could be in 4 hours for all I know.
