I have been avoiding the forum for awhile as reading a lot of the stories (I'm a pessimistic person by nature) was causing me as much stress as they were helping me. Instead, I have been focusing on remaining positive, maintaining the diet (which has been harder than I expected,) and preparing myself for the school year ahead.
But, I wanted to make a post letting anyone curious know that I had a cysto w/ hydro done on the 17th. After the procedure, the surgeon informed me that she did see both scarring and glomulations (sp?), and that she would classify me as between mild and moderate IC. However, I had a follow-up appointment today, and was shocked to be informed by the NP that they also had found a Hunner's Ulcer as well. I was given a prescription for Elmirion and sent on my way. I am still digesting that information as I type this. All my symptoms have been slowly improving, so I know I should feel that nothing will change, even with this new information. But I can't help but feel a little scared that this discovery of the ulcer will do more damage than good.
At least, finally, I know that I definitely have IC. It is not as terrifying as it once was, although I am much more afraid of food, which is a new thing to experience. I was one of the those people who ate whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted, and enjoyed eating quite thoroughly.
All I need to do is keep moving forward. Take one day at a time. Things will improve.
All in all, I want to thank you all for your support. Also for all the advice I have found on this forum. It has been a great resource, and will continue to be, I know.
