Elmiron dosage

Just wondering if anyone has been prescribed more than 3 (100mg) pills per day by their MD. Anyone taking between 4-6 pills per day? Anyone had their MD suggest it? :confused:
My doctor discussed uping my dosage to 4 pills a day and then to 6 per day. I am afraid the increased dosage may cause hair loss. I have experienced significant hair loss in the past (un-related to Elmiron), so I am especially sensitive to the possible side effect.

When i took elimron my doctor up my elimron from 3/100mg a day to 4/100mg a day. i took two in the morning WITH FOOD. and to at dinner time. I always had to take it with food it made me so sick if i didn't and he told me it was okay as long as i was getting it in my systom. even tho. my bladder looked better i didn't feel any better:( so that is when i went to the heparin and marcaine at home treatments that has been a God sent to me.

I have heard of people on 200 mg 3 times a day...I plan on begging for that dose or atleast a higher dose....not sure if I will get my doc to do it...but I have heard of people that have done so.

Yes I have heard of that, but only under strict supervision from a physician. The regular dosage is 300 mg/day, but I have heard of people increasing their dosage to a maximum of 600 mg/day. But I believe this is only after they tried 300 mg/day for a while (many months) and it didn't have any effect on their symptoms. I'm not sure about the hair loss, I would think that if you don't have any hair loss at 300 mg/day, you probably wouldn't at an inceased dosage either, but I'm not entirely sure.

Why has your doctor suggested a higher dose? If it isn't working at a lower dose and you have been on for six months it may not work at a higher dose either. My doctor told me to take a higher dosage and it was working at a low dose. As a matter of fact it still works at an even lower dosage.

My uro told me I could take it 3x a day or 2 in the AM and 2 in the PM. Whichever was most convient for me. I take it when I make my final potty call before getting up for the day. Usually about 4:30 AM and then as I go to bed,usually about 11:PM (this way I can still snack in the evening;) :;) I've been on it since Jan, and outside of having a short time of adjusting to it (queasy tummy for awhile) I'm doing OK and feeling good about 70 percent of the time. I use urised. 2 pills,2 times daily and prelief when I want to "feel frisky" about my diet. Hope this helps.....Donna L
