Happy Sunday. I'll be short & sweet. Anyone have trouble with lower back & hip pain?

Yes, and physical therapy with a therapist trained in pelvic floor therapy for IC patients has helped a lot. She created me a home program that includes walking (slow & short distances at first) and stretches & strengthening exercises at home. She told me that when you've had IC for awhile, you develop a "pain posture" & often stop exercising & that this leads to weakened crampy muscles, not just around the bladder, but up into the rib cage, back, & hips. It took awhile to get better following her program, but I'm much improved now.

There's a book by Amy Stein, "Heal Pelvic Pain" that is very good as well. She's a physical therapist who has designed a home care program for patients with IC & pelvic pain.

I hope you feel better soon,

Another vote for PT...I don't have the time to stay with it right now but while I was doing it, I felt the best I had in years. Myofascial release did incredible things for me, too.

I was on my feet too much over the weekend and last night I ended up in bed with a book very early with low back and leg pain.

YES!!!! I had excrutiating lower back and hip pain. I couldn't cross my legs at one point. Nobody could tell me why. I finally got sent to physical therapy and now the pain is less than it has been since I can remember- probably since I was a teenager. I no longer take daily pain medication. My hips had horible rotation when I started PT, at the end, I was very close to normal :D

A few years back I was about to leave for a short trip that involved a lot of walking/touring and I pulled a muscle in my hip. My family doctor said rest and muscle relaxers, which WASN'T going to happen...instead I called my uro, explained the problem, knowing they could fix me in the office with PT...and they DID it. She pulled and pushed and poked and the pain disappeared and I walked my fool head off. No therapy works for everyone but gee whiz PT is amazing stuff.

yesssss...I guess I had gotten so used to my lower back pain and achiness so much that I didn't even notice it. My UroGyn sent me to PT & to be honest, I really didn't know how much pain I had until it started to dissipate. Physical Therapy has done WONDERS for me so far. I still have the pain, but I've only been doing PT for about a month now, so we'll see where that takes me...
