I recently was place on valium suppositories for my pfd. They seem to be helping but I find them to be very expensive. My insurance will not cover them. Has anyone encountered this problem with their insurance company? Also does anyone have an insurance company that will cover valium suppositories? Lastly does anyone know of a pharmacy that sells these suppositories at a low cost? Thanks for your help! :smile tee

Hi Jerzeygirl,

I have exactly the same issue. My insurance doesn't seem to cover them either. I will try one more pharmacy today and maybe I have some good news for you tomorrow.

The cash price I was given is about for 5 mg version was $67 for a one months supply and $89 for 1.5 months supply.

Is anybody out there who knows about a cheaper source?? Maybe some trustworthy online pharamcy?

How do valium suppositories work?

Due they put you to sleep or only work on the area?

Hi Jerzeygirl,

just talked to the Happy Harries compounds pharmacy directly and they charge only half of what the other pharmacy demanded.

Their price for 30 pieces was $35 cash price, my insurance will only cover $5, so I have to pay $30 myself, but what a difference to $67 for the previous pharmacy...

Bottom line it is worth checking a couple of pharmacies directly!

Good luck!

Hi Jerzygirl,

Where are you located in NJ? I am from NJ as well.

I too was just prescribed valium suppositories. I haven't picked them up yet but Hopewell Compounding Pharmacy quoted me at about $45 for a 1 month supply...

hi everyone...i am on vag. valium suppos also, my insurance does cover them though....im sorry, I work for the state of ma and its there insurance, its a very good one, i pay the highest weekly amount just so i can have this great coverage....I sure hope you can find a way to get them cheaply or have insurance pay, as I would die without mine!!! only on them three months, but they help so much....

and they only work on the vaginal area, dont make you sleepy or any ie: normal valium side effects, at least for me. only problem as i have stated in other posts is that is does leak out, but otherwise, WONDERFUL!!!
sure hope it works out for you all.

You took them for 3 months???

Are you down to a one-every-other-day- dosage or are you taking them every day?

Do you do PT on top?

I have been taking them only for three months...doctor just prescribed them. If i have anything to say about it, i am not getting rid of them either!!!! ;-)

Are you down to a one-every-other-day- dosage or are you taking them every day?

Originally prescribed for one in am and one in pm....i never took the am one because of the "leaking" of thin whitish/clear discharge from them, after they melt. I take them everynight when i get into bed, it helps so much to relax the pelvic floor and allow me to fall asleep!!! doc never mentioned the every other day dosing....

Do you do PT on top?

Yes i am currently doing PT twice a week, i am on my third month of doing PT..that has also helped tremendously.
