View Full Version : First day trip!
On Thursday my husband & I are taking our first day trip since I was diagnosed! (Money has been tight with all the medical bills, but I was also rather afraid to try to go anywhere! Every day off I've had since June has been spent either going to doctors or staying home, so it'll be good to go out!)
We're going to Chicago to meet a friend for lunch, then see the Cubs play!:):):) This should be a pretty good trip because I am familiar with all the areas we will be in, therefore I know the bathroom situations, etc.
My husband & I first met in Chicago for a day trip, and he is a HUGE Cubs fans so this will be a fun day for us hopefully!
I'm planning on taking all my meds (just in case) plus plenty of bottled water & an instant ice pack. Any other suggestions of things I might have missed thinking about?

Wear loose fitting pants or a skirt.Seams have a way of crawling up to the crouch when riding in a car for any length of time. Be very careful of snacks at the ball park. Have a good time and enjoy yourself.

Have a wonderful time! :)
Donna
Thanks for the tip, Nottoc4! I've got a nice loose pair of shorts since I've lost weight!
No snacks though. We're packing our own. :)
I'll post pics later! So excited, despite the past two painful days I've been through!
Not a happy story anymore. :(
I woke up with a terrible flare this morning. Did all I could & decided to hit the road.
We had to stop once for me to use the restroom, which made us miss our train to Chicago by mere seconds.
Then I needed to go again at the train station, but I missed making it to the restroom & I peed myself.
At that point my husband suggested me head home, and I had to agree it was for the best.
I'm so embarrassed. I've had a few close calls, but I've never peed my pants before! I not only did it in the train station, but when we got home I raced to the bathroom & missed too! :( :( :(
We're hoping the game might get rained out, so we could either get a refund or exchange, but I'm still pretty upset about how the whole morning went.

I'm sorry Cem. Things happen sometimes. Don't get too down about it. Hopefully the game does get rained out and you two can go another time. :grouphug:
Thanks, lttlewun. :)
This was such a major trip & I felt like I was finally gaining some control, only for this all to happen.
Trying to keep my chin up. My husband is so great. He kept telling me it wasn't my fault, even though I really feel like it all is!

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful, understanding husband. Just relax today and take the Elavil! I hope it works for you!:)

So sorry this trip didn't work out for you. There will be other trips in your future.....Hugs
Maybe there is happiness after all-
A friend (whom we were supposed to meet for lunch) sent me this link:
2 Shot in Downtown Chicago (http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/08/2-shot-outside-loop-tv-studio.html)
So perhaps that's why we weren't supposed to make it. We were going to be catching our L train from the Loop part of town, around that time frame!
So maybe it is good we didn't make it. :)

Wow!! What a trip! I would take that as a huge sign that you weren't meant to go!
