Now that barbeque season is here we do alot of grilling. I love Vidalia onions and sweet pickles and wondered if most people can tolerate them in their IC diet. I've had a few onion pieces on a hamburger without any problems but dont want to rock the boat. Sue

I have troubles with onions... IC not so bad, but bowel problems. I haven't been officially diagnosed with IBS yet, but I have a lot of the symptoms, and one thing that "puts me on the can," as my husband says, is onions!
Pickles, though, are ok. Dunno why... even dill ones that are really vinegary are ok, even with the IC... maybe because I usually just eat one small slice. Maybe if I ate more I'd have IC trouble too...

No, I can not eat either...for many reasons. I do not know if they would bother my bladder. Neither one is worth tempting fate...:tsk:

No problem here with onions and since I love them so much, especially the sweet Vidalias in the summer, I'm hoping that doesn't change. I don't eat that many pickles, but so far no problem with them either. This IC diet is such an individual matter, it seems, and a lot of the answers come through trial & error, unfortunately.:(

Thanks everyone. I am going to try a few slices of videlias and see how it goes. I'm getting a pretty good handle on what I cant eat. I still haven't tried tomatos or tomato sauce and I stay away from my beloved coffee. I can drink a little white wine and a small amount of chocolate. I'm from Southern Maryland and we eat alot of seafood and steamed crabs. Old bay seasoning is a real trigger for me. I want to try Mexican food as that's one of my favourites. Thanks again for the replies. Sue
