Now I know why Justin's shirts (3X this week) have a little hole in the middle of the back.

What a cutie!!!! I have 2 labs (all grown now :( ) & miss having a puppy around. I have a yellow lab, Abe, who's 3 now. Then, about a year ago, a friend of my mother-in-law witnessed a dog getting pushed out of a van in the middle of traffic. I felt so sorry for this dog & decided to give her a home. She is a black lab & we named her Raven. We don't have any idea how old she is, but the vet thinks she's 8 - 10. You can tell she's old & she doesn't feel to good. I joke a lot about Raven & I being in the same state of health. I think Labs are the best dogs, especially with children. My kids can jump on them & pull their ears & basically do whatever to them & they're just happy that they're being touched!

I would love to attach pictures of them, but it's saying that the file is too big. Oh well.

Michelle and Karma,

What adorable doggies :puppy: (From what I can see of Raven). Glad you gave her a good home!

I have 2 doggies myself, both rescued from shelters. Ginger is a 2 year old beagle (daddy's little girl, a MAJOR pest). She was sent to a high kill shelter, pure bread mind you, because she had gotten a rip on her ear as a puppy and the owner couldn't sell her as a "show dog." Last year we found our yellow lab, Jessie, 3 years old. She was being trained by her owner to be a therapy dog when her owner died due to a brain aneurysm (sp?) and she was sent the the shelter. We fell in love... between the loving, loyal nature of labs, and the training she has had, she's been perfect for our family (my younger son is autistic and having Jessie dog has been GREAT)... and soothing to cuddle with when sick... which is everyday!

Here's my pet pics site... love to show them off... Just wish I'd remember to update it! http://www.geocities.com/autumnrain711/zoo.html

Chelle,

I can't get your picture to load & I can't figure out how to resize mine. GRRR! Getting frustrated!

Labs are so smart! My yellow lab is so smart that we can't keep him from running away once a week. He knows how to open doors! He can open the bedroom door; He can open the front screen door; He can open the garage door; He can open the sliding glass door to the deck; He can open the privacy fence gate!!! I'm lucky that someone always finds him & calls the vet's number on his tags. The vet always calls laughing, "We've got Abe again!" He even runs down to the house at the end of the street & opens their gate & lets his buddy lose!!!! I just don't know what to do with him! He can open all these doors, but can never shut them! One night, we came home to the sliding door open & he had let the neighbor's cats in. He was having himself a little party! This was in the winter, so our house was freezing when we got home. He's really something else!

Oh my goodness, Abe is brilliant! As soon as I read that I thought about the cat liter commercial with kitty party... sped up another trip to the bathroom with all that laughing, althought I'm sure it wasn't fun to come home to an igloo!

We had the running away problem with our beagle, ended up getting one of those underground "invisible fences." and after a year we were finally able to take the control collar off. I hated having to do it, but we're not too fair from a main road in town and... don't even want to contemplate what could happen. Luckilly, Jessie came trained and we can let her walk freely without a leash if there wasn't a leash law. Don't know what I'd do without my non-human babies :)
