Hi friends:

In about a year I would like to try and get pregnant....this would be my husbands and I's first child..........

I got diagnosed via cysto with IC..."they think"

Well I've been only doing the natural route...no meds or anything and I've been doing really great.

I stopped all vitamins about 2 years ago and that really helped as I think the vitamins were causing me to flare.

Well I thought let me try an all natural vitamin and see what happens....it had no corn, no soy, no milk, no colorings etc etc....so I took one yesterday for the first time in 2 years.....

Well it put me into a horrible flare within hours...........and I mean bad....I haven't felt this bad in a long time.............I'm flaring
BAD :(

So friends I know I need to take folic acid before I become pregnant...how am I suppose to get this if I can't take vitamins?

How am I suppose to take pre-natal vitamins when I do beccome pregant?

What have others done?

Please help.............I want to be as healthy as I can before I get pregnant..............

any advice?
thanks much

I take Nature Made's B-Complex supplement without C. It has 100% you daily value of folic acid, along with the B vitamins. This particular brand has no artificial colors or flavors, no preservatives, and no chemical solvents. I haven't found a problem with taking them. They also make B-Complex with C, so be sure not to get that kind. I get these vitamins at Walgreens.

I would also read the labels on food. I eat Malt-O-Meal's version of frosted mini wheats & they have 100% folic acid in them.

Also, a lot of people's IC symptoms seem to go away while pregnant, so maybe you could still take the pre-natals. Talk to your doctor!

Best of luck,
Karma

twin-lab brand vitamins are the only ones i can take. but even their multi-vitamin causes pain for me. so i buy them all separately. they have a folic acid. and if you want vitamin c, use ester-c instead. it works pretty well without the pain.

i've tried all different brands of vitamins, but twin-lab is the only one i can use.

good luck ttc. we tried for a long time and finally decided to just not worry about it anymore. but i still take my vitamins. just in case, ya know?

I found a wonderful vitamin B complex in a health food store. It is called Bio-3B-G made my Biotics Research corporation in Rosenberg, Texas. It includes all B vitamins in a vegetable culture ( no flavonoids) and comes in a low dosage so you can regulate how many a day your body is able to tolerate. This one has worked for me because I was afraid I wasn't getting enough B vitamins through my food. It seems to be gentle and non irritating. (Somewhat expensive though, but worth it for me!)
