I am a new member and this is my first post so let me start by saying hi to everyone and give you a quick personal profile. I am 32 yrs old and had a sub total abdominal hysterectomy Sept. 2002 due to adenomyosis, endometriosis very long, heavy and painful periods, and a left ovary removal in October 2003 due to severe endometriosis and cysts.
Over the past couple of months my bladder has been giving me some problems, and I find myself having alot of problems peeing. I can't seem to go and when I do go it is just a trickle, only to return 15 minutes later to try again. This time if I do go I still cannot completely empty my bladder, it's more or less still a trickle. I don't think that I am experiening bladder spasms or anything, I just can't seem to go completely.
I also am having trouble with my bowels. I have a feeling of fullness in the rectum but am unable to have a BM. The troubles with my bowels go back a few years and I have an appointment with a doctor to discuss that on Monday April 26th. I will mention my bladder woes to him also although I don't think that is his area of expertise.

Anyway, back to my bladder problem. When I do sit on the toilet I am very uncomfortable and my bladder seems to ache when I pee. :yikes: I think my bladder has a mind of its own and when it starts to ache it shuts itself off or something.
Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone here?? Could this be IC??
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be?

Any insight would be apprectiated.
Thanks in advance,

Karen

Hi and welcome:welcome:
This sounds like it could be IC but it could also be something else. IC is a disease of exclusion, meaning other things have to be ruled out.

When you are having trouble peeing, that could be due to spasms and one thing to remember, don't strain to go. I think you do need to discuss this with your Dr. and get into see a urologist if possible.

Read through the handbook on this site.

http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/

Since you have a week or so before going to the Dr. it would be helpful to him or a urologist you may go to in the future to start a voiding diary. That way they know more of what is going on. Keep track of how much you go, and when you go. It may also be helpful to keep a food and drinking diary also.

Diet is a big help to most of us. You will find that information also in the handbook. Certain foods and drinks will irritate the IC bladder.

I hope this helps a little. I wish you good luck and please let us know how you are doing and if we can answer more questions.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles!!! Jolene is right... you need to get in to see a urologist to find out if it is IC, so you can start treatment as soon as you can and get on the road to feeling better. :)

Good luck, & keep us posted!!!
