I wasn't sure where to post this question, but since it is new info regarding my girlfriend's niece, I posted it here. My girlfriend shares some health ailments with her 11 year old niece. Yesterday we found out that her niece has Immunoglobulin A Deficiency (also knon as IgA Deficiency or IgAD). One of the characteristics of this deficiency is that patient's lose their mucous membrane functions in their lungs, nasal cavities, and istestines. It can cause increased colds, IBS, etc.

However, there is hardly any information online linking Immunoglobulin A Deficiency (IgA Deficiency or IgAD) to IC. We were thinking that there may be a potential link, since IC has to due with the mucous membranes in the bladder.

Does anyone here have this deficiency or know of a possible link? My girlfriend is going to get tested for the deficiency as soon as possible. Her niece is not diagnosed with IC, but we are monitoring her based on all their health similarities.

If anyone has any info, or also has this defieincey, please let us know.. thanks!!!

Sorry, I don't know anything about this. Your GF and her family are lucky to have you in their lives though. I hope you find the answers you are looking for and keep us posted on your GFs test for this IgA Deficiency, sounds like there could be a link.

Thanks Sandra.

I was wondering if anyone knows if they have been blood tested for this, and if any of their bloodwork has this level listed.... and what it might be.

This is very interesting...

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I certainly get colds all the time and have IBS symptoms.
