Does anyone know how much any of these procedures generally cost? I don't have insurance and I'm just wondering even though I'm sure I can't afford them... I'd appreciate any info you have :)

Six years ago, the total charges for mine were up around $13,000, but I live in one of the most expensive parts of the US (San Francisco Bay Area). I also had to stay an extra 5 hours at the hospital because I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic they gave me in my IV. My share (insurance copay) was about $1,100. This was for a cystoscopy with hydrodistension. No other procedures were done. No biopsy. Just the cysto/hydro, and they took photos of the inside of my bladder to give to me. I highly recommend finding out if the doctor will give you photos. This made it easy to take them to a new doctor for a second opinion without anyone wanting to redo the procedure.

I really recommend talking with someone at the hospital & asking for an estimate. They'll give you a disclaimer saying "You could have complications." but you have the right to know how much an uncomplicated procedure should cost.

Looking back at the Explaination of Benefits forms that I get with my claims, total for everything (hospital, doctor, anesthesiologist(?) total was $4500.00.
with my insurance since I met my deductable I paid around $100.00 and that was for the hospital.

I just had a cysto/hydro done in April.

The cost was roughly around $6000.00. The cysto/hydro wasn't the expensive thing. It was actually the waiting room that was the most expensive, but necessary.

However, with two insurances, I only had to pay $50.00

Mine was around 12k all inclusive  based on my insurance claims and what I paid out of pocket. I was responsible for
30%++++ of that 12k and paid the majority of that 30%++++ up front. I had cysto/hydro/biopsy in 2004.

I had complications...that cost ME an additional $7k out of pocket(and that was just MY part...not including the 70%that my ins covered!), on top of the the 12k so all in all (with or without the complications) it was big chunk of money...even tho I had insurance! The uro who did the cysto/hydro was out of network and was covered at only 50%, but still, what her charge as the surgeon was for the cysto/hydro/biop (about $750) was tiny compared to all the other expenses involved (not including the complications I had afterwards).
I live in the poorest part of the country...however, research recently showed that my area ties with Miami for highest cost of med care in the nation!:help:

If there's a surgery center in your area, it's much less expensive. I had my last hydro in the surgery center at my uro's office and I didn't have to pay anything at all.
