Hi everyone! I am new here and suspect I have IC. I am looking for a little input on the matter. Here goes.. I had a total hysterectomy 3/8/04 due to fibroids abnormal bleeding and cysts on the ovaries. Had a bout with a bladder infection about 3 weeks prior to surgery. My gyn did a culture and it was the e-coli kind. I was put on Levaquin for 2 courses because it never felt like it went away. Just before surgery I told the nurse I thought I still had a uti. Did the urine test but never heard a thing. And off to surgery I went. Since then I have had this burning (which I dont even have to pee and It burns) and achey bladder when I do pee. Also my left leg kind of tingles all the way to the bottom of my foot. Last 2 times I have been to the dr my urine sample has been neg. She says, "Vulvodynia," as she did the q-tip test.
What I want to know is, Don't these things go hand in hand? Should I see a urologist too? I have been on the low oxalate diet for a week also taking the citracal. Still have the burning and bladder leg thing going on. Any advise? I have not been sick very often. Not even had but 1 cold in the last 8 yrs. Did have a fair amount of bladder infections when I was young. And then the hyst. thing. Any input appreciated... Thanks all!!!

Hi there :)
And :welcome:
Glad you found us! I think Dixie is right... you probably should see a urologist if you're still having urinary symptoms. It can't hurt, and if you do have IC, the sooner you start treatment the better!! :)
Good luck and keep us posted. If you want to chat, PM me anytime....
Hugs,
Jen

:hi: and :welcome:
Glad you found us. Yes, I think you should make an appointment and see a uro. There is a test called Cysto/Hydro that is done by a uro while you under anesthesia. The doctor will fill your bladder with saline solution (Hydro) and look (Cysto) at the bladder lining to see if you have reddnes, bleeding or ulsers. All of these are symptoms of IC but you do not necessarily have to have them all to be diagnosed as having IC.
Let us know how you are doing...
Hi and welcome, the gals have given good advice, and it would ease your mind a little to see a urologist who knows about IC, and can help you to find the right regimen to help you out. Keep us posted and the IC network has great information to help you out with diet, and self care. Take care and welcoming hugs Iris.:hi: :grouphug:

hi:hi: I'm new too and haven't been diagnosed.
did you have the tingling before your hysterectomy?
I had my hysterectomy a year ago yesterday, and right after my hysterectomy i to had the tingling for a while. My gyn said it was the nerves coming back to live again.
