A while ago my doctor told me that I probably had a genetic condition called Gilbert's Syndrome. There are no actual blood tests to diagnose this condition that I know of.It just shows higher than normal bilirubin levels in the blood, but is a benign liver condition that is inherited.Has anyone here taken Elmiron with this benign condition without complications from Elmiron on the liver?I've heard that Elmiron can cause changes in the liver and am concerned about this.

gilbert's syndrome can cause your skin and eyes to get a slight yellowish tint when bilirubin levels are higher.it can make you feel sluggish.

Gilbert's Syndrome is, as you said, genetic. It's a defect in an enzyme that transfers out the bilirubin leading to high indirect bilirubin levels. I believe that Elmiron is partially metabolized by the liver and partially by the spleen via a process called "sulfation". Because Gilbert's disease is benign and does not affect the liver's ability to "sulfate" or cause any other enzyme deficiencies, I would assume that Elmiron would not cause a contraindication.
That being said, this is the internet and you'd have to follow up with your physician for further instructions or advice.
Hope you find your answer!
