Hi everyone I'm 21 and from the UK. Have suffered on/off problems with my bladder all my life, although in past few years it's really come to a head. I suffered a really terrible UTI in November 2007, and everything seems to have stemmed from that!
I'm aware some people here have much more severe symptoms than me but it's still SO life interfering.
I had an investigative Op last Friday- they did a cystoptopy, flushed my bladder with Gentamicin and found I had developed Urethral Stenosis, so they dilated my urethra. My bladder was completely clear and healthy though!
All I would like to do is relax but it's blighted me for so long now all I can think is 'what if this hasn't fixed my problems? what if I go out and I desperately need the toilet and can't find one?' etc etc. How can I get over this anxiety that unfortunately comes hand in hand with the kind of problems I have!
For the past few days I've only really needed to use the toilet around 4 times per day whereas usually it's every hour/hour and a half and a constant nagging feeling.
Today I've woken up and been twice in 2 and a bit hours
I can't help think have I made myself like this by worrying so much about it? If I tried to chill out and forget about it would everything calm down?
So really I'm looking for ways to get over and cure my anxiety and advice about urethral stenosis/dilation really- how long til it stops being sore? Could this be the end of my troubles? Usually I have loads of pain when I wee but it all seems to have gone now! It's just the frequency

Thanks so much xx

You may have to ask your doctor for something to help you relax. Stress and being tense can increase symptoms of any condition.
