I'm prone to yeast infection and pretty sure I have another one.

Like I have in the past I got a store brand of Monistate (spell?) 3 which is a 3 day dose of it. The cream is put directly inside and this has always helped a lot.

The 2nd night I used it though I had TONS of burning, itching something awful and a lot of pain. I thought maybe some cream had got into my urethra. I was able to hold out on the pain and went to sleep.

The 3rd night (last night) I used it again and I felt fine. I had no itching or burning BEFORE I used it. I was sure the yeast infection was going away. Yet moments after I used the 3rd insert awful pain, burning and itching again. I tried so hard to just fall asleep ignoring the pain. I didn't want to go into the bathroom pee wasting the med I just used. But I had to. I pretty much rinsed myself off I felt so awful.

I still have a bladder flare up due to the yeast infection and a tad itching from the yeast infection which I am guessing is still there.

How do I treat this infection if I can't use what i usually use which is over the counter?

I am taking some stronger probotics now. I took two before lunch and plan to take 2 more before supper.

Any tips how to get rid of this yeast infection? I kind of fear having my husband buy another box of meds only to have it give me so much discomfort. As you know money is tight everywhere.

Hi,

I am also prone to yeast infection. I have tried several OTC medications but none seemed to work. My doctor usually prescribes Diflucan 200mg tablets to cure the yeast problem and it works wonders. Try asking your doctor for a prescription. You normally will take one pill, wait three days and take another, wait three days and take another. Trust me its better taking a pill for a yeast infections than using the cream.

Thank you. I have seen a few others online suggest the pill too.

I think it is to late today to call my OB/GYN for it. It is after 4pm here. But I will call in the morning about it.

Another vote for Diflucan. It comes generic now, too, right?

I too am prone to yeast infections and anytime I have one I call the dr right away and ask for Diflucan (sp?). Not only is it cheaper (insurance covers so I pay like $4 for 2 pills versus $18 for the OTC stuff), but less messy too. If in a jam I have used the Monistat ovules (sp?)....like a suppository not the cream and I find that is far less messy and I can still get up to use the bathroom with it in and not worry about wiping away all the med. Recenty though...my OB has had concerns with Monistat -- a lot of women were having allergic reactions to some of the preservatives they put in it....so she will call in an rx for Diflucan even after hours.

Hope you feel better soon.....yeast infections are the pits.

My suggestion is that you have the diagnosis confirmed before trying to treat it. It's possible that you have something other than yeast --- and that's why the med hurts.

Does anyone have issues with the yogurt-in-warm-water douch?

It has always worked almost instantly for me and several of my girlfriends, one of whom is a licensed midwife. It also gets rid of any of any yeast that may have spread to the extravaginal areas without any burning.

I use vinegar and warm water douche and it knocks out any yeast infection IMMEDIATELY.

Squirt the external vulva area with warm water afterwards to rinse it all away.

I keep a pad down there afterwards, or a paper towel, cause the extra fluid dribbles out.

Sorry so blunt.

Hope this helps.

i insert my femdophilis vaginally when i have a yeast infection as well as taking the diflucan. it works wonders! i found pieces of the capsule once the next morning in the shower, but most of the time they just dissolve. good luck!

Diflucan has helped me the most. I had chronic yeast infections for five months and nothing would get rid of it - I tried over the counter stuff, natural cures, a prescription cream (that made me feel like I had the flu) and the 150 mg diflucan twice (take one, then take another after 72 hours). Finally I got so frustrated and went to the ER and they gave me one diflucan there and a prescription for 7 diflucan - one to take after another 72 hours and the rest to take once weekly and it finally cleared up.

When I moved back home and could go to my favorite doctor again she gave me a prescription for diflucan with refills so I could take it when my period was going to start (the infections kept coming back when I started the placebo week of my birth control) or I was taking an antibiotic or just whenever I needed it so I wouldn't keep having to call or make an appointment.

Good luck!
