and it won't go away!!!! :(

I've maybe had 3 yeast infections in my entire life (I'm 33) that were all easily cured with an OTC cream or diflucan, and suddenly I've got this resistant infection that will not go away.

Multiple doses of diflucan didn't touch it
3 weeks worth of Itraconazole pills along with multiple OTC creams or boric acid didn't touch it.

Although I'd been unable to do the boric acid as directed. Supposed to do a 600mg morning and night for 14 days and then twice a week after that... but the stuff is irritating!

I've convinced my gyno to send a culture off for medication testing. Hopefully that will shed some light on things.

I'm also trying the full boric acid regimen again. It's been three or so days now. It's a bit irritating, and annoyingly messy and it increases my frequency some. But I'm determined to get through it this time. I also take a vagina specific probiotic. 50 billion.

I'm also trying this anti yeast diet **** I've cut all sugars and breads and grains and dairy. I think this is the hardest part. I'm craving milk and cereal or a pear bar like crazy. I sit and cry because I want foods but can't have them. I want to try yogurt but the diet lists cow yogurt as a no no and sheep/goat yogurt as a limit food. Which is confusing because I thought yogurt was supposed to be good for fighting yeast.

I'm so confused and depressed... and hungry! :(

Insert unpasteurized, plain yogurt with a small spoon or spatula or vaginal cream applicator. Insert at night and wear a pad. Repeat for three to seven nights, until symptoms disappear. Douching with yogurt and water can help, too.

I hope you're feeling better this morning. Hopefully after the culture and sensitivity test, your doctor will be able to order and effective antibiotic.

Warm hugs,
Donna

Thanks Donna.

Very itchy externally. I also cut the boric acid to 1 a day as 2 was putting me in a flare. I had to actually take a percocet and a pyridium last night. uggggg.

At least my bladder behaved during the wedding, but I'm sure all the sweets and cake didn't help the yeast. Sex that night felt like 200 grit sandpaper no matter how much lube we used, and we haven't had any since.

I hope you're feeling better this morning. Hopefully after the culture and sensitivity test, your doctor will be able to order and effective antibiotic.

Warm hugs,
Donna

my biggest fear as that I'm going to end up with VV from the constant yeast and treatments like a few others on here did. I don't think I could handle that and IC! :(

This may not be much help...but I just got married this past Sept, and I had a horrible vaginal bacterial infection which started about 2 weeks before my wedding. I ended up in the emergency room 2 days before and found out I had a UTI. The metroconizole did nothing, and either flared me up or caused the infection to spread to my bladder and give me the UTI?? I was put on Cipro...which is the only thing that made me feel better. I ended up having the infection for 7 months...through the honeymoon, etc... So...I feel your pain!!!!!!!

Are you on the birth control pill? My infection finally went away after I went off mine. They think it might have dried me out (which can make you more susceptable to infections) or put my horomones out of whack, or both.

when it finally did clear, at the end of March....I went to a specialist in NYC that put me on a topical horomonal cream, which did wonders for my VV symptoms. I seem to get itchy and flare up at the end of my period now...which is still very annoying. But at least I'm doing better than before.

I hope you get better soon...I know how you feel. It may all be from the Stress of planning a wedding too!! I thought it might help to hear that someone else went through something similiar...and I am feeling better now. There is hope!!
