Yesterday afternoon while I was running some errands, I got into my car, leaned back and had a stabbing, stinging pain in the middle of my back --- it felt like when I stepped on a wasp! I got out of the car and shook my shirt to get rid of anything crawling in there --- then literally ran to our little library (which was closed), keyed in the lock code as fast as I could, then went in and took off my shirt and shook it. As soon as I got home, husband Terry put some cortisone cream on what was becoming a huge welt. I still don't know what bit me, but I suspect it was a spider. I swam last night, which helped with the swelling, but it's still very itchy this morning.
That's it for whiney me this morning.

Ouch! Don't you just hate it when that happens?
I hate bug bites/stings! It's almost a phobia with me.
I have heard making a paste with meat tenderizer and putting it on the bite right away can really help. A nurse told me it will neutralize the venom. A yellow jacket stung my hubby last week and I tried that on him. It did work.

Benadryl cream or a paste with baking soda & water can help.
(I hope you stepped on the little creep when it fell out of your shirt.)
Hope you feel better soon,

Do you have Brown Recluse Spiders in your area? Ask Hubby to keep an eye on the bite just in case.
Soft (((hugs))) coming your way...

We do have a few recluses, but it doesn't look like that kind. It's being watched. :)

Sorry Donna. You know, I assume, that one can buy a little tube of sting relief stuff at most drug stores. Most mothers have it with them just in case. I think the main ingredient is ammonia. I know it works on wasps stings but don't know about spider bites. I've been bitten by spiders and mine were very mild. Mostly irritating. I'm somewhat concerned for you. If it does not go away soon, I'd talk to my doctor. A Brown Recluse is the only one I know of that hurts greatly and very dangerous. Hug, Ziggy

We're watching it closely and it only stings now if I get too warm. I think the welt will probably be gone in a few days. If it gets worse or doesn't heal within those few days, my primary care doctor is only about twelve miles away and it's easy to get an appointment.

I hope it's nothing serious and it does go away own it's own.

The bite is healing on its own --- just a red patch with a small scab now. No more raised welt.

That's good news, Donna. My dad was bitten twice by a Brown Recluse. It was pretty bad.
