View Full Version : Oxytrol
Just got back from my doc for bad spasms, and he prescribed this.
It's a muscle relaxer patch that relaxes just the bladder. I'll have to let you know how it works.

I've used the Oxytrol patch in the past. Watch out for retention--it might sneak up on you as the patch is a slow release method.
Hopefully it works for you w/o issues!
D :)
So far so good. The patch has successfully controlled my pain, it hasn't done anything for the urgency or frequency, but neither does vesicare. It's doing what I was hoping it would do. The only problem so far is keeping the darn thing on :lol: I used alcohol before I put it on, and had to tape it down today :bonk:
Oh-well

It's been a few days, and the patch is stopping the spasms :woohoo:
It doesn't do anything for the urgency, or frequency, but that's not why I was given it.
PAIN CONTROLL:woohoo::woohoo:

Quick update: Just got home from dr, and he said I might be able to stop the vesicare in a week or so, since the patch is doing a better job.
YAY!!!! (it's not really working anyway)

Wrt Oxytrol I'm trying just the opposite, in other words stopping using the 3.9mg patch after using it for two months.
I'm on a lot of meds so I've been working on cutting down the number and amount of meds I'm taking, and since it was routinely taking me several minutes from the time I sat down until the time I was able to start urinating, I thought I'd go off the Oxytrol patch and see what happened. So far, if anything, it's a little easier to urinate now that I'm three days off the patch than it was during the two months I was on the patch.
I've also tried Ditropan and Detrol, both of which made it even more difficult to urinate.
Good luck!
