I had a hydro under anesthesia 10 years ago and was diagnosed with IC. Through the years, my condition has worsened but I keep getting different answers from doctors. I have had 2 Urologists. I thought I had Hunners Ulcers but this doctor tells me I don't. She also said my bladder held a large capacity. I'm now dealing with urg/freq/burning/retention and I have been having chronic visible blood in my urine now. It happens at least once or twice a month. My kidneys check out fine except for 2 stones and one is big. So the Urologist did an in-office Cystoscopy today to check for bladder stones/tumors and there were none. She said my bladder was smooth and looks very healthy. I realize the in-office cysto would not show inflamation or bleeding. So now she wants me to have electric shock wave to blast the kidney stone, thinking the blood may be caused by this. The stone is stuck in my right kidney and has been there for years. My question is, could an in-office cystoscopy tell if you have bladder cancer?? She said she would see tumors and none were found. Just wondering. I don't know what to do. My sister said not to touch the kidney stone but it's already 1.3 cm. Thanks for your help as I'm so confused and drained from this all.

If you're not feeling comfortable with what you are hearing, I think a second opinion would be a good option for you. I know very little about kidney stones.

Warm healing thoughts,

I know there's a urine test they can do to screen for bladder cancer. My GYN tested me for it. You might ask about that. I'm not sure about the rest of your questions, sorry.

Hi Sandy!
I just replied to your pm!!! Anyway, my uro was concerned about the possibility of bladder cancer with me on my first visit because I used to be a smoker (stupid teen years anyway :) He said after my cysto that he was confident that I didn't have it. Or at least he didn't see anything that looked like it to him. I'd call your uro and explicitly ask her the questions you have and express your concerns. That's what you're paying her for :) right?? Good luck...hopefully I can pm you with some decent news this evening!!
