Someone told me that doses of Effexor higher than 150mg effect the same brain chemicals as Tramadol.

I don't know why, but Tramadol helps my bladder pain and my depression.

Does anyone take Effexor and does it help their pain and depression?

I took Effexor before I was diagnosed with IC (or had any bladder issues) so I'm sorry I can't help there. Effexor did help my depression and social anxiety problems, but I had some bad side effects from it. I was on a high dose though - 225 mg a day.

Effexor helps my low grade dysthemia (chronic mild depression) and fibromyalgia. I do not think it effects the IC one way or the other. But my dose is low (37.5) as anything higher makes me VERY SLEEPY.

Really? When I was on Effexor it make me sleep so light, every little thing woke me up. I also started twitching in my sleep and jerking my legs - that woke me up sometimes. It stopped as soon as I stopped taking it. I also always felt like I was STARVING and gained a lot of weight. It was terrible while I was weening off of it too.

Effexor has been a great Rx for me. Everyone is different and there are so many different meds out there. I don't know if it helped with my pain, but it did help with my attitude and how I dealt with the pain. I didn't gain weight with Effexor, but I did with Paxil.

Isn't that the truth... My doctor told me effexor didn't cause weight gain. I was like hello??? As soon as I stopped taking it I lost weight.
