I was just wondering about white wine. I know that I have heard red wine being a definite no no for Icer's but does that go for all wines. I thought maybe white wine would be a little less acidic. Thanks for any info!

Most IC patients cannot tolerate alcohol without a symptom increase. Sorry:(

Personally, I can have a glass of chardonnay after 3-4 Prelief and I do fine. I am not terribly diet sensitive, but I still watch what I eat and drink, and I avoid the big triggers like caffeine, chocolate, tomatoes, etc. I started out by sticking to the diet strictly...and then slowly added things in to see what I could tolerate. Everyone is different, but be careful when you experiment! I always tried a little at a time.

white wine with prelief has worked well for me. Yes there is an increase of symptoms but for me I am fine after two glasses.

Like DenySue I have a short glass of chardonnay once in a while, as long as I am otherwise doing well. The first few times I drank white wine I was careful to down some prelief, but I've never been convinced of its benefits for me. I do make sure to drink lots of water when I am drinking wine--and that way I can nurse one glass of wine through apps and a whole dinner.

I can also drink a small amount of beer, but have not touched red wine since I was diagnosed. I learned my lesson in NY recently, where I upped my consumption of alcohol and paid for it the following week. I had more wine than is typical for me (typical being a short glass maybe once or twice a week) and even indulged in a nightcap two or three evenings--scotch. Now I know not to push my luck. I'm staying away from the hard stuff, at least for a while.

I stay away from citrus and fermented products and tomatoes, but I am able to eat small amounts of dark chocolate. I don't use salad dressings, but recently discovered that I am okay with sushi, which has a small amount of rice vinegar in the rice. I believe I am not as diet sensitive as some others.

Thank you everyone for your input on the wine. I may try a very little white wine soon just to see what happens. A few months ago, before I was really aware or following the IC diet I had a big glass of red wine one night, and the next day the burning down there was so awful, I'll never do that again - even though I love red wine. I have had corona light, just recently and nothing bad happened with that.

best wishes,
Stephanie

I have no problems with wine or beer aside from a bit of increased frequency for a little while. I'm not too diet sensitive though.
