I'm starting to look for a new car, preferably a SUV. I currently drive a 2006 Honda Civic, but I find the seats uncomfortable and the ride is just not smooth. I was wondering if anyone owns or has test drove a SUV with a smooth ride.

We have an '08 Honda Element and absolutely love it. We first bought one in '04 and decided then that as long as they were making them we'd be customers. Unfortunately our '04 was totaled back in March, hence the new one. If you havent checked them out, I'd recommend you take one for a test drive.
Good luck in your search!

I drive a 2003 Toyota Rav 4 & find it pretty comfortable. As in all cars, I use an IC seat cushion & a folded scarf under my lap belt. I also checked out Honda CR-Vs when I was buying the car (which was 6 months before IC began), but I found them difficult to steer.

I went from a Camry Wagon to a 4-Runner (Rav4 cargo not long enough) when station wagons became rare. I drove quite a few SUV's and the 4-Runner is by far the smoothest ride, nicest seats, best ergonomics, not counting the Buick which was way out of my price range and even more of a gas guzzler.
One thing to bear in mind is that high-set windows are in fashion. I rented a Nitro, and the visibility really suffered from that.
For the seatbelt, I use a spring clamp from the hardware store and clamp it off looser than the spring would keep it.

I drive a Dodge Dekota. Its not to bad of a ride. My husband drives a Honda Civic 2008. its not to bad to ride in. But when we take it on long trips I end up with an IC FLARE. We were going to get a new SUV Chevy Traverse for me. But no pay raise this year again. So I will have to suffer with what I have. But a least its paid for. The Traverse has a smooth ride and has plenty of leg room and the seats are nice and compy.

I test drove the Mazda CX-9 and loved it for my IC. I especially loved the heated seats and smooth ride. If i ever get back to work, i'm going to buy one.
Good luck!

We have two pretty new cars- both of them are KIA's. The one that I drive is a Spectra 5-its good to drive, but I don't like it for long distance driving. My son has a Rio -now that is very comfortable, we take it when we go down to Houston.

I have a Cadillac Escalade and it is very IC friendly especially with heated leather seats! I wouldn't think of travelling for long trips in anything but this! It is the smoothest riding suv I'ver ever been in and it's the 4th SUV I've purchased(had a Ford Expedition, Ford Explorer and Nissan Armada).
Good Luck!

Thanks for all the replies. I was looking at a Ford Edge or a Nissan Murano. The idea of heated seats are amazing. My mother drives an Acura MDX with heated seats. I'm the only one in the family that truly appreciates heated seats in the middle of summer (or really any reason). The only problem with her car is the seats are fairly hard, however with my IC cushion I really don't seem to be too bothered by it.
