Relapse on Vesicare?

I am currently taking Vesicare and have been for just over a month. It has really helped with my bladder pain and spasms. The GP diagnosed overactive/irritable bladder. However, in the last few days the pain and spasms have returned. I went on a long train journey and wasn't able to pee when I needed to and held it so am wondering if that kicked it off. Also, it was during my period.

Should I return to my GP or does this happen sometimes?

I've been on it since late last fall, and during my recent vacation I had similar problems, and am contemplating stopping it for a couple of days to see how I make out...It's almost like mild retention sometimes, and I have no idea why all of a sudden? I wasn't on my cycle but I had something similar happen with Ditropan XL before too...
